Taxpayers Association of Europe awards the 2010 Taxpayers Prize to Viviane Reding

TAE Award 2010 to Viviane Reding, Vice-President of the EU Commission

The European Taxpayers Award which will be presented on March 22, 2011 in Brussels for the twelfth time by the Taxpayers Association of Europe, will go to the Viviane Reding, Vice-President of the EU-Commission.

Viviane Reding will be recognized for her years of dedication as an EU Commissioner. In particular, it was thanks to her initiative that high EU roaming fees belong to the past. She has argued in favor of pan-European cost saving internet telephony against the resistance of national regulatory authorities and powerful top dogs. Thanks to Reding, millions of European consumers can increasingly use cost-saving services such as Skype on mobile phones. Even in her new function as EU Commissioner for Justice, Rights and Citizenship, she vehemently champions the interests of citizens.

The award ceremony will take place on March 22, 2011, from 7.00 p.m. - 9.30 p.m. at the Baden-Württemberg representation, Rue Belliard 60-62, 1040 Brussels.

TAE President Rolf von Hohenhau will greet all those attending. Udo van Kampen, head of the ZDF studio in Brussels will give the laudatory speech.

Following the ceremony, a reception will be held at the Baden-Württemberg reception in Brussels.
The award ceremony will be conducted in cooperation with the European Economic Senate (EES).
