TAE Rejects Own European Union Tax EU Needs an Own Financial Framework
The European taxpayer organization, Taxpayers Association of Europe, rejects the proposal of EU Commissioner Michaele Schreyer to introduce an own EU Tax to finance the European Union budget. The existing financing system of the European Union ensures budgetary discipline and planning security.
In the course of planning the EU Finances for the years 2007 until 2013 EU Commission is trying to palm off an own EU tax on EU-taxpayers under the guise of transparency and revenue neutrality.
Each European Union tax will be, in contrast to all political promises, an additional one, states TAE’s president Rolf von Hohenhau.
Instead of screwing up tax burdens EU Commission and the Council of the European Union should tackle the necessary reforms of EU Expenditure.
The actual proposal of the EU Commission is a further proof of the necessity of an EU Financial Framework which has been demanded for years by the Taxpayers Association of Europe. This includes continued and strict exclusion on the part of the Union of any entitlement to raise borrowings and establish its own right to identify and levy taxes.
